NPC Crate Unboxing

20180821_073018.jpg

So I have been an excited idiot and have forgotten to take pictures of the previous boxes because it is just cute. NPC (Nerd Poured Candles) Crate is a candle, pin and bookmark subscription box that is all about nerdiness, and I love it.

Yes, it is a “simple” as in no frills and craziness, but it is sound in content. This one had three delicious smelling candles! (MY favourite smell matchng my own idea of how it would smell was Totoro’s Forest, but I was also very pleasantly surprised by Yubaba’s Bath House mostly because I have never been to one and somehow as I smelled this candle I went “oh yes, this makes sense even if I didn’t even imagine it close to this!”

The Calcifer pin was awesome with all the sassiness of him in it and I was so happy to see it in there. And the bookmark on the other side has the description of things (you level up with each crate, but shhh! let the n00bs find out the hard way) and the label for each candle (as in contents, ingredients, etc).

If this sounds like your cup of tea, you can buy it here.

August Yume Twins (Dreamland)

This theme sounded too good to pass up, dreaming, sleeping, all the best things, and they do have such cuteness. Starting from the plushie and going clockwise:

  • Cute plushie, I forget the fandom off the top of my head. But it is very squishie.
  • Theme magazine.
  • Pokemon notebook (it has cute pokemons inside)
  • Pokemon cable protector (isn’t it super cute, sleeping away? *cuteness overload*)
  • Kitty/feline bookmark with sticky-notes
  • Cooling pillow cover, I haven’t tried it out but it does sound interesting and useful.
  • Face cloth, it is so soft :3

Witchcraft Book Box Club Unboxing

20180803_072849.jpg

A witchy magical box for their first special box (as in the box is now Book Box Colour and printed rather than a sticker on a brown box and it is so gorgeous!). Starting with the book and going clockwise:

  • The Lost Witch by Melvin Burgess, I was going to preorder but guessed it’d be in this box. Then knew he was at YALC so I actually have two copies, one dedicated and one from the box.
  • A bookmark to match the book.
  • Promotional postcards.
  • A chocolate frog for all your witchcraft (it was very yummy!)
  • Invitation to the Clubhouse
  • Promotional bookmark for This Cruel Design (This Mortal Coil was awesome).
  • Portable Magic Book Pouch by Tea Cake Art. The design is gorgeous (though I admit I thought it was a sandwich carrier for lunch but love it either way).
  • A Spell for Wildflowers by Wildflower Favours. I thought this was such a cute thing to get!
  • Hubble Bubble Bath Potion by Midsummer Child. A great spell for a weary day!
  • Luna Lovegood candle by Madame Fiction. It smells delicious.
  • And a pair of super cute witchy earrings by Fairy Fountain Gifts.

I can’t wait for the next box and to read the book and I just really loved the box 🙂

The Power Within Fairyloot Unboxing

20180724_073244.jpg

A mixed box of feelings for me. Some items were very good but the rest were not enough. Let’s do the unboxing starting from the book and going clockwise:

  • Heart of Thorns by Bree Barton. It has red sprayed edges (beautiful) and expect a review soon (like in two days).
  • Sweet Black Waves postcard.
  • Author letter/character art print.
  • Fairyscope hidden underneath.
  • Children of Blood and Bone print (one of my favourite things from this box).
  • Theme card.
  • Witchy broomstick with a quote referencing Quidditch.
  • Colour changing mug. Sadly it is just a quote in colours, it isn’t a wonderful picture or some fun effect, which is a shame as Ink & Wonder designs are usually delightful and lovely.
  • Wrongly printed tea towel (they are sending one that isn’t reversed, no one thoguht to check this before printing sadly).
  • A room spray from Geeky Clean.

Gothic Ghostbusters LitJoy Crate

20180712_084156.jpg

Sadly I missed the delivery day of my Litjoy so it had to wait a few days to be picked up, but it is an interesting box. Included were:

  • My Plain Jane, exclusive edition. This is the second Exclusively printed LitJoy edition book they have done and I love it, the extra page and illustration make it a bit nicer plus it is signed (no bookplate). My only wish (mostly because wishes) is that it had sprayed edges too but it is not a complaint.
  • A library Card pouch which is tres tres cool. And somehow in the picture it looks much more like an old yellowed library card than a pouch.
  • Theme card/booklet.
  • The Last Magicians temporary tattoo
  • MMoaning Myrtle notebook 9with a quote that made me laugh!)
  • Ink and Wonder wooden bookmark (I love their designs, I always feel they are too pretty to use, one day I will use them!)
  • A tea towel, winner! I love tea towels in book boxes and this one definitely fits well into my collection (I just wish it was a bigger bit of art rather than just that bit but nevermind).
  • A gorgeous feather pen. Mine decided to spill all the ink into the bag and miraculously not actually get the feather which is a stunning shade.
  • And of course the new trading cards which were much better than I thought they would be and I love them, gorgeous!

NPC Crate Unboxing

Quest acomplished!

20180711_182010.jpg

If you’re a fan of candles and also D&D (or just an utter nerd) then this is the box for you!

This is their very first Crate, by Nerd Poured Candles (and GeekyClean). The concept is a “quest” (I love the D&D vibe so much! *fangirls*) per box, which includes 3 hand poured candles, a pin and something extra (if I remember correctly).

The logo is delightful, and the candles smelled delicious.

If you can’t make out what the pin says, it is “Ask me what I’m Reading”.

And the bookmark is in itself the “spoiler” card, on one side a quote, on the other the contents and introduction to the crate.

Next one is Ghibli themed so I obviously had to have it (I just wish there was a subscription option, it’s not like I don’t want it every time).

Bad Girls Book Box Club Unboxing

20180619_073624

Who doesn’t some interesting bad girls every now and then? I sometimes do (if done well in fiction), so let’s see what the girls from BookBox Club had under they radar, starting from the book and going clockwise:

  • All of this is True by Lygia Day Peñaflor. For some reason it makes me think of Fandom, but I hope this is completely different, we shall see.
  • Bellatrix Pencil Tin (Illustration by Kristin Askland), and then the girls filled it with jelly beans because they like doing awesome fun things and this was such a delight to find! I love it when pencil tins and other containers include little extras inside.
  • Eau de Fatima Ro shower gel by Soul and Soap. This was a nice surprise though I admit I haven’t used it yet because I still have some other products left, but this looks intriguing!
  • And I darken Notepad, which I loved because the design is so good!
  • Ash Princess promotional postcard.
  • Invitation to the ClubHouse!
  • Extra ARC for The Boneless Mercies by April Genevieve Tucholke. Of course this has been in my radar and I was hoping the ARc was either this or Sawkill Girls.
  • Queen of Hearts print by Kate Louise Copsey. For some reason the style reminds me a lot of ParaKiss by Ai Yazawa.
  • Promotional postcard for All of this is true.
  • Maleficient Pencil (it kinda hides under the book but it is there, I promise!)
  • And obviously the theme card which has a great look to it and it is beautifully simple and stylish.

Rebels in Ballgowns Fairyloot Unboxing

20180623_143720.jpg

This sounded like an exciting theme so I kept my subscription and here we are, starting from the theme card on the top right and moving clockwise:

  • Theme/Spoiler card.
  • Nevernight/Godsgrave inspired  by Geeky Clean. It smells qutie enticing and it is lovely in a glass jar.
  • Reading Journal, which looks quite interesting and I hope I will use it, though I admit I suck at journalling 🙁
  • Cushion Cover, I do like some of them but there have been too many recently in Fairyloot so I wasn’t too keen to receive yet another one (and specially if it is mostly just a quote).
  • Grace & Fury, with author letter, signed bookplate, postcard and theme bookmark.
  • Mask necklace, which was my absolute favourite item from this box.
  • Sea Witch sampler poster from publisher.
  • Ink and Wonder patch, their designs are always so lovely and it was interesting to see them in a patch (but seriously, why patches, I never use patches!)
  • Shatter Me magnetic bookmarks, they are surprisingly heavy and detailed.

It was a nice box but I have to say I was a little sad to see another cushion cover in it and a patch (even if it is Ink and Wonder). But I am looking forward to reading the book.

Hidden Talents Illumicrate Unboxing

20180602_154447

Woops, for some reason I erased all my content before posting this. Have an ammended version of it.

I was so pleased to receive PaperFury’s book in this box and it was packed full despite the delay in delivery 🙁 Contents were:

  • A Thousand Perfect Notes by C.G. Drews (aka PaperFury) which I was so looking forward to reading and it certainly needed to be part of at least one book box.
  • It is Your Time Book Sleeve by risarodil. It is very very soft.
  • Camp Half Blood Enamel Pin which is very lively and has a pegasus so I really like it!
  • #prefersfictionalworlds box, which has a Fangirl kind of feel that I absolutely loved and it is great to receive such a nice box, you what I would love to receive? A lunch box or a bento set in a book box! I could take it with me every day to work and smile.
  • Infernal Devices Cards which were easy to identify and oh so gorgeous!
  • Elements Page Markers, they’re kinda metal bookmarks which are lovely and I was very pleased.
  • A lot of bookish goodies included 🙂
