Illumicrate is a book subscription box that usually features fantasy and sci-fi, and curates a wide range of books, including both young adult and adult fiction. It usually contains a new release and several bookish goodies.
We’re more than halfway through 2025 boxes, so getting closer to actually catching up with them But for now, let’s see what was in this box, starting from the left and going clockwise:
- The featured book, which was Voidwalker by S. A. Maclean, I haven’t read it yet but it sounded interesting so I want to. I have heard mixed opinions on it but none have yet put me off of it, so we shall see what I think once I actually get to it.
- A cushion cover inspired by Silvercloak (which I have not read and I am not sure if and when I will, I am very undecided on it). This I did not keep because I don’t really keep most of the cushion covers unless they fit with my decoration and style (and usually they’re more like designs or quotes than character’s faces specifically, I am not super big on character specific cushion covers unless it was a cute critter).
- Storybook Setting Magnet, which was Yvelia, I think from Quicksilver. I love these magnets and I use them to put up regular recipe cards on my fridge.
- A set of acrylic rubber stamps inspired by Heavenly Bodies, I am not huge on stamps in general, so this one wasn’t for me.
- Then a pair of what they labelled as ceramic containers (they make we think of stemless wine glasses, but could be pots for plants I guess?), which currently are kept in storage but I like their design a lot.
- And a missing leaflet because sometimes I forget to add the leaflet to the picture when arranging it.
An interesting combination on this box, some items I really liked, some are not for me at all, about 50/50. I do like the theme and the cover for the book was superb. I am also a big fan of ceramic items generally that they send, so those are usually a win for me. And of course it does look cool all together.
