Illumicrate is a book subscription box that usually features fantasy and sci-fi, and curates a wide range of books, including both young adult and adult fiction. It usually contains a new release and several bookish goodies.
An interesting theme choice but let’s see what it came with. Starting on the left and going clockwise:
- Plate set inspired by Divine Rivals (I have yet to read it). Look I love when they send plates and stuff like that because I get to use them all the time (the bowls they sent are my breakfast bowls and I love them so much) so I am happy though I do wish it didn’t have speciifc names on them otherwise you get asked who is Iris and Carver and I have no answer to give.
- The theme leaflet. I used to collect these when they had a nice illustration but since they’re more a design then I don’t anymore.
- The featured book which was The Irresistible Urge To Fall For Your Enemy, by Brigitte Knightley. I have no interest in this book so this is one I am not going to read, just not really my type of thing.
- A cute and very pink owl watering globe, inspired by The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy which I have not read either (I am seeing a theme here, woops).
- A water bottle bag with dragon like art that I like. I don’t use it as much as I would like to, purely because I usually take a backpack with me so I don’t need an individual water bottle bag, but I think I ought to use it for my traveling coffee cup.
- And not pictured because i am a forgetful creature was a notes pad inspired by Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia series.
Overall sadly this was not a theme for me as you can tell because the only book I had read of the ones here was Emily Wilde’s series and otherwise the rest aren’t really in my list to be read (maybe I am not that into haters to lovers). But the items were like a 50/50 split on them. I like the plates and the water bottle bag, the notes and watering globe aren’t for me, but they’ll get gifted to someone who will enjoy them.
